Does It Really Take That Long to Edit?

Whenever I quote a time length for editing projects, almost every writer will ask, “Does it really take that long to edit?” Of course, it does take that long to edit. The question comes up so frequently that I was ultimately driven to write an article about why it takes as long as it does to edit a manuscript.
